Intel Launches Intel Core i7: Fastest Processor On Planet

Intel has launched a new desktop x86-64 processor, claiming to be the fastest in its segment till date. It has been given the name 'Intel Core i7'. Three variants has been launched with different configurations.

Core i7 are quad core processors and are based on Intel Nehalem microarchitecture.

Intel Core i7

Core i7 has two variants:

1. Intel Core i7-920
2. Intel Core i7-940

Core-920 has the clock speed of 2.66 GHz, 256 KB L2/core & 8 MB shared L3 cache with DDR3-1066 memory speed support. Price: $284

Core-940 has the clock speed of 2.93 GHz, 256 KB L2/core & 8 MB shared L3 cache with DDR3-1066 memory speed support. Price: $562

Intel Core i7 (Extreme Edition)

Core-965 (Extreme Edition) has the clock speed of 3.2 GHz with 8 core threads, 256 KB L2/core & 8 MB shared L3 cache with DDR3-1066 memory speed support. Price: $999
