Both the methods shared below are easy to use and one can learn them without any hassle. It's up to you which one you prefer over the other. So, without any delay, let's learn how to share our live location.

Sharing Live Location Through WhatsApp

The first method is dead simple. All you need is a WhatsApp account and you're good to go. Almost every netizen uses WhatsApp. So, it's one of the easiest and quickest ways to share live locations with others.

Option to share location in WhatsApp

First, choose the contact with whom you want to share your live location and click the Location option as shown in the image above.

Thereafter, click the Share live location option. Remember, do not click the current location option right below it. Choose the first one.

The next step enables you to select the duration for which you want to share your live location. Select the duration as per your need and add the comment (optional), if you want to do so.

And finally, your contact will get your live location. Clicking on it will open your live location in the primary map application on the contact's smartphone.

Whenever you want to stop the location sharing process, simply click the Stop sharing link.

Sharing Live Location Directly Through Google Maps

Although the first method mentioned above is quite common when it comes to sharing live locations with others. But what if you do not use WhatsApp? That's where the Google Maps app comes to the rescue.

Option to activate location sharing service in Google Maps app

Open the Google Maps app and click the account management icon on the top right. Click the Location sharing option from the menu to kickstart the activation of this service.

If the location sharing services are already active on your smartphone, this step is not required at all.

Activate location sharing service

Click the Share location button to activate the location sharing service. At this point, you may get prompted to disable the battery-saving mode.

Make sure to switch off the battery-saving mode else the location-sharing service may not work as intended and you may experience hindrances during the entire process.

Sharing location with a Google contact within Google Maps app

Select the duration for which you want to share your live location. If the contact is a trusted person, select the second option to ensure the location is shared continuously until you manually turn it off.

And finally, select the contact with whom you want to share your live location. Click the Share button to start the location-sharing process.

Although I've mentioned it somewhere in this tutorial, I want to repeat it. Location sharing is a sensitive process. It's opening up your private details to others.

So, make sure you know the person with whom you're sharing your live location. Never do it with strangers or with a person whom you do not trust.
